Hi, I'm Omar Abdelrehim

I'm a disabled US Navy veteran and a small-business owner based in the Washington, DC–Baltimore area. I started SimplyActive to give small businesses the kind of software advice I wished I'd had: honest, practical, and free of hype.

My time in the Navy

I trained at the Naval Nuclear Electronics "A" School from 1986 to 1987, learning naval nuclear electronics as it relates to nuclear reactors and the Navy ships they power.

From service to small business

After working as a sales representative for large companies, I left the corporate world and started my own business. Today I run GovernmentQB (operated through Cerulaxis dba A-Z Services, LLC). GovernmentQB helps companies market and sell their products and services to government agencies through mentoring, one-on-one coaching, workshops, and courses.

Back in 2016, my company offered a document management service and was looking for dealers to resell it, so I've seen software from the seller's side too.

Along the way:

• I completed the Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce VIP Grow program (2014) and VIP International program (2018), part of the Chamber's Veteran Institute for Procurement, and I've served as a VIP instructor.
• I was interviewed for Veterans N Transition in September 2017 ("Veterans in Business") about veterans making the transition into business.
• My sales training includes SPIN Selling and the DDI Leadership course.

Why I started SimplyActive

When I went looking for software for my own business, most review sites seemed to rank whatever paid them most. Everything was "the best." Hidden fees didn't get mentioned. Nobody said who a tool was wrong for.

So I'm doing it differently:

• I tell you who should skip a tool. Not every product fits every business.
• I check prices and features on the official sites and link to them so you can verify.
• I separate research from experience. When a review is based on research and documentation, I say so. When I've used a tool myself, I mark those notes clearly as first-hand.
• I write in plain English for busy owners, not IT departments.

Who SimplyActive is for

Every small business. Being a veteran-owned business is part of who I am, but this site isn't only for veteran-owned businesses. If you run a local service company, an online shop, a family business, a one-person consultancy, or a small agency, you're in the right place.

My business is a certified Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB).

How this site makes money (the honest version)

SimplyActive is supported by affiliate commissions. When you click certain links, like those for GoHighLevel or MeetGeek, and buy something, I may earn a commission at no extra cost to you.

That money keeps the site running. It doesn't buy a good review. If a tool isn't a fit for most small businesses, I'll say so, even when it has an affiliate program. Read the full affiliate disclosure.
